Smart Manufacturing Implementation at Gujia | Tie Ma Customized Mattress Net Conveying + Robot Palletizing Production Line, Unlocks New Efficient Production Solutions for Mattress Factories
2026-09-18

Competition in the mattress manufacturing industry is growing increasingly fierce. For large-scale production, the core competition is no longer about manpower expansion, but high-efficiency capacity, controllable costs and consistent quality brought by automation.

When medium and large mattress factories produce bed springs, the traditional manual sorting, transfer and manual palletizing model has long suffered from multiple challenges: heavy workload for workers, misplaced and mixed stacks, bed spring accumulation and jamming, as well as limited production capacity. Tailored to the actual production conditions of leading home furnishing brand Kuka Home, Tiema Automation developed an integrated production line combining roller conveyor system for bed springs and intelligent robotic palletizing. This intelligent manufacturing solution addresses all pain points throughout bed spring handling, reducing labor burdens and improving production quality.

Fully Automatic Roller Conveyor Line

No manual handling required throughout the process

No manual handling required throughout the process In conventional bed spring production, bed springs coming off spring coiling machines were entirely moved and transferred manually. Heavy bed springs impose high physical strain on workers; prolonged handling easily causes bumps and deformation, while manual transfer slows down the rhythm of the whole production line.

The production line implemented at Kuka Home is equipped with a complete set of roller conveyor mechanisms. Once bed springs exit the spring coiling machines, they flow and transmit automatically. Workers no longer need to drag or lift heavy materials repeatedly, which completely eliminates strenuous manual labor, reduces material damage from collision, and maintains stable and consistent conveying rhythm of the production line.

 Supporting Bed Spring Recirculation System

Prevents accumulation, blockage and jamming

Under mass production conditions, temporary backlog at the downstream palletizing station can easily lead to bed spring pile-up and line blockage upstream, halting the whole production line and wasting production time.

We designed a dedicated bed spring recirculation system. When the buffer of downstream workstations reaches full capacity, excess bed springs automatically flow back for buffering. The system balances the production pace between upstream and downstream processes, perfectly avoiding bed spring accumulation and line shutdowns. Smooth full-line operation can be maintained even during 24-hour continuous mass production.

Dual Independent Robotic Palletizing Stations

Separate and precise operation for two lines

For bed springs from Kuka Home’s two production lines, two sets of independent mobile palletizing robots are deployed, with one dedicated palletizing robot serving each production line. Relying on digital identification signals from the upstream line, robots autonomously sort, grab, precisely align and neatly stack bed springs to eliminate mixed and misplaced stacks.

The robotic arm maintains uniform and stable gripping force, delivering consistent and tidy stacks. Standardized palletized products meet Kuka Home’s requirements for standardized warehousing and outbound management.

Lightweight Customized Implementation

Adaptable to existing workshop layout

The entire intelligent bed spring conveying and palletizing production line is fully delivered by Tiema Automation, covering planning, fabrication, installation and commissioning. It is deeply adapted to the original layout of Kuka Home’s mattress workshop, without extensive reconstruction of existing factory buildings and production lines. The equipment seamlessly connects with upstream spring clinching and downstream composite processing procedures, enabling rapid commissioning and production after site installation.

With years of expertise in intelligent automation for home furnishing and mattress manufacturing, Tiema Automation always focuses on real production pain points of mattress factories, balancing flexible production and large-scale efficiency.

The successful commissioning of this intelligent bed spring conveying and palletizing line at Kuka Home marks another successful practice of our intelligent manufacturing solution for “reducing labor burden and upgrading production quality”. From mattress lamination and simplified six-side lamination to bed spring transfer and palletizing, Tiema Automation provides customized automated equipment for the full mattress manufacturing workflow. We help major home furnishing manufacturers achieve intelligent transformation and seize industry opportunities with solid automation capabilities.
